Collection: Craig Yenke Folkart - Paper Mache Figures

Craig Yenke has been hand sculpting and painting his unique paper mache figures for years, taking inspiration from early German children's toys. No two pieces will be alike and are all handcrafted in the USA.

Craig sculpts his figures with wire, paper mache, and cotton, and says that every step in the multi step process is done by hand. Noting that it would make sense to make a mold to produce faster, his technique allows everyone to have an original piece.

Papier-mâché is folk art where paper is shredded and mixed with water and a binder, such as glue, to produce a pulp ideal for modelling or molding. When the material dries, it will be a hard surface that is light, strong and inexpensive in materials. The talent is not only used during the molding process, but the intricate details in painting and adorning with other natural products to create something truly unique.
