Step 1: Blot the Spot: Immediately upon spilling or staining, grab a dry towel and gently blot the area to absorb as much liquid as possible. Do not rub, as rubbing pushes liquid deeper into the braided fibers.
Step 2: Clean the Spot: Avoid harsh traditional spot removers. Instead, use a diluted 50/50 solution of warm water and gentle bleach-free laundry detergent or dish soap. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and blot the spot gently without scrubbing. Dab the area with clean, warm water to remove soap residue. For acidic spills like red wine or tomato sauce, substitute the soap solution with club soda.
Step 3: Dry the Spot: Because water can cause stains, dry your braided rugs or braided table decor immediately with a blow dryer or a nearby portable fan to prevent damage.
For Solid Messes: Gently scrape away dried solids using a dull butter knife or spoon, then vacuum the excess debris with a mini vacuum, whisk broom, or crumb sweep. Clean any remaining residue using the spot cleaning steps above.
